how to write seo friendly Blog Posts

When the word comes out for keyword research, Most content writers forget to use the most powerful tool that they are already using.

In this step, I will share 3 methods with Google that you can use for Keyword Research.

#1.1 Google Keyword planner

It’s the most trusted and accurate data of keywords that is google tells us via their keyword planner.

Basically this tool made by google for advertisers so they can find keywords for their ad and cpc bidding strategy.

But as a blogger for keyword research,

In the Keyword planner, every keyword that you searched shows the keyword volume every month, competition even CPC, so you can get the money information behind it.

Let’s start how you can also use Google keyword planner for your Keyword Research Strategy

For using this tool you need to access google ads via your google account.

That’s easy just head over to Google ads and login with your Gmail – email id.

Please sign up for a new Gmail account of you don’t have.

But there you will two options. “Discover New Keywords” and “Get search volume and forecasts”

1st Discover New Keywords

This will help you to discover new keyword ideas that are related to your search query or business.

2nd Get search volume and forecasts for your keywords

This feature is just helpful when you have already a list of keywords and want to know their search volume.

But here’s a catch no matter which features you use, you will end up on the same place – keywords results page.

Like different paths for the same destination.

And for keyword research, we will start with Discover New Keywords

So click on 1st option of keyword planner and enter your keyword ideas that you have.

In results, you will every keyword that is related to your Keyword idea.

Their search volume, competition, and CPC.

You can even use filters to find more specific keywords like low competition, location, month, etc.

For example, I entered my query ‘keyword research and google suggested more keywords.

You also do this with Youtube Search and Bing Search.

#1.3 Google: Search related to

This is a way to find keywords that are actually searched by users. And the data is provided by Google so it can’t be wrong.

Whenever we search any topic on google there is a search related to the section at the bottom of google results.

Optimize Blog Posts for SEO

For example, I search Keyword research on google.

At the bottom of the page, we can 8 search related to keywords that are closely related to my search query.

Now click any of those related keywords, and at the bottom, you find more related stuff<img draggable=” />.

Repeat this process until you are satisfied with your keywords list for your post.

This way you not only get more actual accurate keywords that are people searching but also Google’s accurate data.

This simple helped me get many keywords in my early Blogging days and now it’s your turn to use it!

Keyword Research using Free tool

You can also do keyword research with some free tools and one of them is Keyword surfer.

Keyword surfer is a free tool that you add in your chrome browser as an extension.

They’re also an option to change the country then this tool shows volume and CPC according to that country.

Keyword Research using SEMrush (Paid)

This is a premium tool and all in one SEO suite.

Despite Keyword research, you can also use Semrush for Backlinks analysis, competitor Analysis, content research, site audit, and many more things.

But for this tutorial, we will only use this for Keyword Research.

It’s the Best tool in the market to get millions of keyword suggestions in a few clicks.

All you need to do is enter your seed Keywords that you want to rank for, choose the country where you want to rank and let the keyword magic tool do his work.

Semrush vs ahrefs vs moz:best seo tool for keyword research - semrush

Let’s understand with an example,

I entered my seed Keyword “best SEO Tool” and chose the country United States. In just a few seconds the keywords list appeared.

On the top, I can choose variations for the research like All type keywords or just question type keywords, then beside them is board match, phrase match, exact match, or related.

By clicking on “Advanced Filters” I can find my desired keyword list. Like low KD keywords or which keywords search volume is above 10,000.

Below this variation bar number of all keywords, their in total search volume and average KD showing. Turelt an easy way to show the data just in a line.

On the left side of the keyword list, this tool shows a keyword list with certain words like “free, audit, analysis” and the total volume of that certain word.

And by clicking on a particular keyword, I can check top 10 ranking competitors for that keyword on Google.

And from here, I can perform an in-depth competitor analysis on these top 10 ranking sites for my seed Keyword by clicking one by one on them.

Truly easy and understandable, I mean what else you want to know in Keyword Research.

With the list of keywords, let move on step 2.

Step 2. How to Research & Study content before start writing it

This is the most important part that everyone wants to grasp, so here are the methods.

You can do in 3 amazing ways to study content before writing a blog that I know and use for content study!

Reading your competitors post

This is the best method that most are already using and you can also try.

Just enter your target keywords in google and hit the search button.

You can see the result page, all the top ranking articles writing on the same topic that you entered.

Click, open, and check top 5 or 6 ranked sites, see how they created content, what topics they covered, their writing style, what they are missing that you add in your content.

As I told you above, Content writing is the process of research, planning, & editing. So make sure to give your time on research.

You can also use competitors for creating content writing formats. (that we’ll discuss on step 3.)

Reading about it on Quora,

Quora is the biggest Q&A forum platform in the world, every month millions of users use this platform.

And you can also use it for your content research and study.

Infact, here you will find the information that you aren’t able to find anywhere else.

Here’s the simple hack to find your topic information in 1 click,

Just use this search string to find your topic related information on Google- “your keyword here+quora

Watching about it on YouTube videos

Youtube videos are also a great source of knowledge, and you can find informational videos on almost any topic.

Enter your topic keyword and search.

Start checking out videos and take notes that you can use for your content.

It’s just that simple.

Believe me, if you will use just these methods, content research will be as hard as you think.

Step 3. Create Outlines or What I say the Content Writing Format

By creating a content format, what I mean is crafting outlines/headingings (that you will cover in the post).

First, create the outlines,

Then simply fill text & visual details in them one by one. (simple as it sounds)

And for creating content format and outlines, observe competitor’s posts which you can easily find on google SERPs. That makes your work a lot easy. (Already mentioned in step 2)

Copy their headings, but tweak them a bit, don’t just paste the same line.

Observe and study at least from 4-6 competitors.

Pro tip: your main target is to create content better than your competitors. So you must need to add more information that they didn’t covered in their post.

Let’s me give an example of creating Outlines,

For example, while I was searching to create a post on “Earn money by placing sponsored content on your blog”.

I studied some of my competitor’s posts that already rankings in the top positions on Google.

Then first, I created a content format like this,

Title: Flyout.io- Earn money by placing sponsored content on your blog !

Introduction of sponsored content

What is sponsored content?

And here’s the content format/outlines for this guide that you are currently reading now.

After creating a content format, your next step is to fill information in it using step 2.

Step 4. Start Filling the format one by one

After successfully observing and studying my competitor’s post I understood what I needed to add in my blog post’s content format and what they missed that I can add in my format.

Pro tip: Focus on one heading outline at a time and try to put every detail information in it that you can.

It’s something like fill in blanks, fill every heading with deep information and detail one by one.

Take as much time you need to fill with information till there is no heading remaining.

Soon you will see your post completing.

Step 5. Make Your content Seo Optimized

At this step, your content is ready but still lacking SEO optimization.

To make the Optimization process, we will need a SEO plugin.

And the plugin I suggest you to Use is Yoast SEO.

Yoast SEO is an all in one and most importantly free tool. Of course, they offer a premium feature with a lot of other cool features.

It’s the most installed SEO Plugin in WordPress and regularly helps 5+ million users to write an amazing SEO optimized post.

This plugin is so amazing and will help you to Optimize your post for proper SEO in a systematic way.

For installing this plugin go to plugin>add new plug

Search Yoast>install and Activate it.

After writing a post, It will divide that post into 3 divisions in terms of SEO optimized.

Green – mostly optimized

Oranger– partly optimized and requires more efforts

Red– not optimized

Make sure your Target is turning it in green for mostly SEO optimized. (Orange is also good to some point)

After installing the Yoast SEO plugin, our next focus is making content Seo optimized and try to put your target Keywords in the article at least 4-5 times if your article is 1000 words.

Don’t worry, Yoast SEO will tell you if you made any errors while SEO optimizing the post.

Here are some tips to write SEO friendly blog posts.

  • Make sure your post fulfills the searcher’s intent and gives detailed information on what they are looking for. (Most important one)
  • Must write your targeted Keyword in the first paragraph of the article
  • Put your target keywords many times in different formats like bold, italic, underline but don’t overdo it as i said 4–5 times in 1000 words.
  • Use many other different LSI Keywords related to the post.
  • Interlink your other posts to this post
  • Use at least 3–5 external links
  • Put alt tag in images
  • Try to add a video, this will boost your SEO but also decrease the bounce rate of the site.
  • Make sure to use the H1 title only on Headline and not on other titles.

Remember these points while writing a post and that will be mostly SEO optimized.

Now scroll below to the Yoast SEO section,

Let’s fill the Yoast empty sections, so that this plugin tells Google that your article is perfectly SEO Optimized and ready for rankings.

On focus Keyword– enter your targeted Keyword

how to write seo friendly Blog Posts

Then click on edit snippet to edit meta title and description

Your post title will be meta title so don’t edit anything here. Make sure to put a limited title so the section point is green.

As for meta description,

Try to put your target keyword here and make it catchy, so when a user sees this description in google they just click on it.

This will increase your CTR- so take your time to make it Catchy and clickable!

Note: Make your edit your meta title and meta description in a way that it turns green or orange not red.

Otherwise, it will not be Optimized for SEO.

Also, Check your sites readability Score

Don’t just Optimize your loss for SEO but also for readers.

Your target audience is not just happy with your SEO but how you are providing information to them.

Because in the end, you wrote this content for humans.

Last Step- Add a Catchy Headline (My personal methods)

One simple trick that makes my most title headlines clicking is to think like the searcher and what makes me click.

And if I run out of my thinking possibilities (that mostly happens)

Then I use these methods,

Stealing from competitors– Use google to check top-ranking posts and see which one makes you click. (use that title, but tweak a little bit)

Add an odd number, if your content is list type– your post is about a list, points, tools, or anything where you mentioned content with some numeric points then adding an odd number in the headline always higher CTR.

Even physiologists and studies have proven that odd numbers physiologically force people to take action than an even number that is why you see more .99 or .97 price tag on products.

Try to put emotions in headlines– Add emotional words in headline titles like ego bait, fear to lose out or scarcity. This makes readers click instantly.

Try this free tool, it’ll give your title headline an “Emotional Marketing Value” score that you can use to benchmark the emotional impact of your headlines.

Using headline analyzing tools– If you still can’t able to find catchy headlines although using the above methods then this will definitely work.

Enter this key phrase on google “headline analyzer”, you will see lots of online tools that will let you analyze and come with awesome catchy headlines.

And the best one I can suggest you is OptinMonster Headline Analyzer,

Just paste your headline, and start analyzing.

It will show, how attractive your headline in 1-100 score. (the more it close to 100, the better your headline)

Here’s mine,

Content Writing Tips, tools and resources

How can this guide be completed if there are no hacks, tips, and resources.

So, lets’ dive straight into it.

These tools not just only help in your content writing but also boost your productivity, saves time and makes things easier.

Tip #1. Start your content intro with hook to catch attention

With over 3 million posts being published every day, you have to make your post attention grabbing.

Otherwise, most of the readers don’t wanna read to last or even skip if they feel bored.

But you can grab their attention with a hook on the intro.

In fact, you have already seen this on newspaper’s and media’s website articles.

The Hook can be anything until it’s grabbing the reader’s attention- controversy, revealing something, challenging their belief, telling how this will help etc.

These are some examples but creating hooks depends on your creativity.

Have a look on this guide’s hook,

Image

Did this get your attention to scroll and read more, let me know in the comments below.

Tip #2. Write short paragraphs

Short paragraphs make  information easy to understand, consumable and encourage to read more.

Tip #3. Add more and more visual graphics

Suppose you visited 2 blog posts written on the same topic, 1st post has images, infographics, and visuals. But 2nd the post has only text information.

Which one you wanna read or suggest others to read.

Of Course 1st one because it has visuals along with texts. That will make your reading experience good and more enjoyable than the 2nd post although both are written on the same topic.

That’s the power of Visuals,

And if the visuals are really information regarding the topic then others can also use their blog and give a source link (backlink) to your blog.

Tip #4. Check competitor’s keywords repeating to increase your high ranking chances

I recently learned that different keywords repeating (number of times a keyword appeared in post) impact on search engine rankings.

Suppose your competitors wrote a post on “Seo tool”, around average 2,000 words.

And there are various keywords related to the main keyword like Best SEO tool and they appeared 50 times, 60 times so on.

And you also decided to write content on same topic but if your keywords repeating is less than your competitors,

Then there are chances you cannot outrank them.

And the best free tool to analyze your competitor’s content and keywords repeating is Wordcounter.

Go to this site, and just copy paste competitor’s content.

It will show details like this,

Pay attention to right side of screen, on Keyword Density section,
